Applications are sought for a committed Research Fellow to work with Dr Craig P. Johnston in the School of Chemistry conducting research for a Royal Society funded project in the field of cobalt catalysis.
The main objective of this project is to develop novel synthetic metholodogies, which involve catalyst-controlled rearrangements, to facilitate the production of previously inaccessible or challenging-to-synthesise materials.
The successful applicant will have (or be near to completion of) a PhD in Chemistry with expertise in homogeneous catalysis, organic and/or organometallic chemistry. In addition, candidates will be expected to demonstrate that they are highly motivated and able to provide day-to-day guidance to undergraduate and PhD students within the group.
They will be expected to help maintain lab equipment and carry out risk assessments to ensure research is conducted safely. The candidate should have excellent communication skills (written and verbal), the ability to work within a collaborative environment, and a proven track record of publications.
The post is available on a fixed-term basis until 30 September 2026, starting 1 October 2023, or as soon as possible thereafter.
